Sometimes the best laid plans "can go wrong". I'm talking about doing everything right from deciding on doing a renovation to the planning, budgeting, financing and of the course the dreaded "finding the right Contractors in the Bay Area".

In the 32 years that I have been a Carpenter/Contractor I have basically seen it all and there still is the isolated incident that really surprises me. By that I mean either the Contractors in the Bay Area or homeowner making some bad decisions in the course of the contracted job. Make sure you understand that in my experience …the homeowner is responsible for 50% of the problems related to remodel or new home construction disputes.

Shyte does happen and given the chance "it will". The outcome depends on both sides having solid morals and ethics in how they treat each other. Yes..right or wrong…it comes down to how you treat each other in a "Human" way.

Communication is usually the culprit. A misunderstanding about ,timing ,money, materials or just plain "Gee..that's not what we/I meant".

Nine times out of ten the Bay Area Contractors will bend in certain situations because his reputation and future referrals are on the line. Someone who does Contracting for a living is dependent on making their customers happy. This doesn't mean that they are always open to manipulation. On the other hand ..Very good Contractors Bay Area would never take advantage of a customer that has limited knowledge of the remodel or new home construction process in the quest for a one time retirement plan. That always comes back to bite you in the rear.

Over the years I have been part of certain organizations and one in particular was because I was recommended to be a part of it by customers. The company is Angie's List.. Anyone associated to this referral system treats it like gold because a lot of work can come from this reputable company. Another is ServiceMagic.com. If you are having trouble finding a good and solid Contractor..just look to your right and investigate these two companies. The business people associated with them guard the relationship with the utmost respect. Why…because their livelihood and the bellies of their families depend on it. Check out ServiceMagic.com and Get Matched to Pre-Screened Top-Rated Pros in Your Area! Get Bids & Review Today! to help you through the selection process of choosing the right Contractors Bay Area.

Contractors In The Bay Area Review will help you understand why Mike Holmes has risen to stardom in such a short time. The marketing of his Contractors show and his personal branding has been a spectacular thing to watch. The producers of this series have put plenty of thought and planning into making him a superstar.

The team of Holmes on Homes has done an incredible job of promoting and elevating the star of the show to expert status. If any of you are thinking of getting into the Contracting Business…study the outline that this show perfected.

The Perfect Outline:

1. Find your niche: Something you know a little about, or a lot, and would love to pursue.

2. Start branding yourself as an expert in that niche even though you are not: use video, TV, the internet and influential friends to get the ball rolling quickly and effectively.

3. Always keep your end goal in mind. Never forget where you initially wanted to go.

4. Get noticed and nurture your believers (followers) with subscriptions, newsletters, blogs or books that you wrote.

Give them something to believe in.

5. Keep setting the emotional hooks.

6. Get bolder with the cause: create more controversy by setting the hooks deeper.

7. Find really popular people to JV (joint venture) with. This will vault you to the next level.

8. Finally: Venture into different markets by giving value (info, your time for free, gifts, special consideration)

This will kick the law of reciprocity into high gear.

Mike Holmes is an expert marketer. My hat goes off to him. There is no way anyone will bring him down or change the minds of his followers. It would be marketing suicide for anyone to try. I will say this though. The show has created some strain out there for the homeowner/contractor relationship. Each category has its guard up for the next ripoff. I really don't think Contractors In the Bat Area need to worry.

Mike has moved onto the next level in The Perfect Outline" and is strengthening his position. I've been working in the TV and film industry of and on for 22 years and have been a contractor since 1982. So I understand both industries and Mike Holmes deserves everything he has achieved.

It's not easy competing in either business. No one else stepped up to the plate. No contractor in the US had the idea of approaching Brad Pitt to give freely of their time on his project.

Mike is the Canadian hero, going from rags to riches. That's why I admire what he has done with hard work, persistence, street smarts and a desire for power.

Follow his example and you'll get what you want. You have to be strong enough to be controversial, criticized, liked or disliked even if your not right all the time.

Way to go Mike.

If you don't mind, I'll correct a few more of the construction mistakes you guys made on the show throughout the years. Maybe it'll mend some of the damage done to the homeowner/contractor relationships.

PS (Folks, don;t hold your breath for Mike to come over and save you. He's at the next level of his career and it doesn't include you. Homeowners will have to take responsibility for their situation. Get some basic construction knowledge, do some homework on your next remodel project and go by your gut feelings about the contractor because he's also checking you out. Contractors In The Bay Area are some of the best in the United States.
