You hear many things with regard to the Mayan 2012 calendar and predictions these days. And, with the fresh failure of financial entities and companies around the world, common disasters such as earthquakes and title waves, it obviously seems like a thing is happening. But what is the actual story behind these mayan 2012 prophecies, and if there is truth in the prophecies, what can we do about it?
One area to embark on is at the source. What are the Mayan's commenting in relation to the mayan 2012 calendar? Are they predicting the cessation of the world? They call the period we are in now leading up to 2012 the 'End of Time', but what does this connote?
In July of 2007, the leader of the Mayan Council and all 440 Mayan tribes, Don Alejandro Cirillo, traveled from Guatemala to Sedona, Arizona to meet with Drunvalo Melchizedek to resolve general misperceptions regarding the Mayan Prophecies and 2012. There have been many others who spoke on the Mayan Calendar and 2012 in the past, but the genuine Mayan Council has been purposely silent for more than 200 years. Now, for the first instance in recent history are they vocalizing about their knowledge and the Prophecies.
The message is very straightforward. This is not the end, but is a new commencement in humanity's awareness. Yes, there will be significant changes with the earth and in society. We are already seeing this with the recent drop of old financial institutions in the world, and transformations in the planet's magnetic field. We are, as the Mayan's say in the "End of Time", an around 8 year period during which the changes will accelerate as they head towards 2012.
For the new beginnings to birth, the old, stale, ego based courses of action must come to an end. Whether it is aged corporate structures, financial systems, or political systems, if they are based on adulterated, inauthentic schemes or premises, they must change. As we move towards 2012, more and more changes will happen. Old systems will collapse making way for new, more authentic heart based system to be created.
Ac Tah, a Mayan chief who, in the past few years has come into prominence spreading his message in Mexico, says that 2012 is not the expiration of life, it is in reality the beginning. Changes are occurring now, and will continue to happen after 2012. Humanity as a whole will rise up in consciousness. He says the extent of the changes that will transpire and how severe they are greatly depend on the level of human awareness. He says the best thing we all can do at this point is to come together in unity, regardless of race, religion, creed or philosophy.
There are other spiritual heads from Mexico, which contains one of the largest Mayan populations, who have a similar message. Bestselling author of The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz has freshly published another book called The Fifth Agreement. He spends much of his time travelling in North America and Mexico spreading his message "Ayudame cambiar el Mundo," which means "Help me change the World," in English.
Don Miguel says the intention of changing the world is finding equilibrium between philanthropy and gratitude - which is an expression of sincere love. He goes further by saying that the earth is a living being and we humans are part of the organism of the earth and as such we change the world by using our energy. The way we affect energy is through awareness. So, as we crawl deeper into love in our energy, thoughts, emotions, words and deeds, we influence our mother, the earth, in a positive way.
The bottom line is that while there may be many transformations that occur as we approach 2012 and after, and these changes can bring up anxiety of the unknown, we are living in a special time in humanity's history. What on the facade may look like catastrophe is really the old coming to an end in order to make way for the new. This doesn't mean that there will not be disaster as the changes take place. When a large corporation fails many lose their jobs. When there are earthquakes, many may even lose their lives. And, while such things have always come up in human history, it does not negate the difficulties and disasters that occur. At the same time, however, as stated by the Mayans and other spiritual leaders, in the bigger picture what is happening has been destined to happen for a very long time. And most essentially, it is bringing humanity to a much better world to live in.
